Ethics is relevant regardless of the type of organization and style of management. It is by this ethics that legal and moral laws are established. IT is not at all excluded from this.

Answer then the following.

1. Question #1:List down the ethics for computer usage.
answer:

When you use computer resources, you agree to the following conditions:

  • To respect the intended use of all computer accounts for organizational research, clinical, instructional, and administrative purposes and to follow the rules and regulations governing the use of facilities and equipment
  • To respect the privacy of others by not sending them unwanted email messages, misrepresenting them when sending email, or tampering with their accounts, files, or data
  • To use only your own user identification, and to use it for the purposes for which it was intended
  • To not attempt to break a computing system or harass other people, either by developing programs for those specific purposes or by using already existing programs to do so
  • To not use organization-owned computers for personal activities for for illegal purposes, such as unauthorized copying of license or copyrighted software

Answer:

The Impact of Ethics on Decision-making Introduction When speaking of the impact of ethics on decision-making, it is hard to pin point a subject to speak on. Ethics is tightly intertwined with decision-making in business today. Objectivity, impartiality, integrity, honesty, and ethical principles above private gain - These are high ideals to which to aspire, and a challenge to maintain. Ethics poses questions about how we ought to act and how we should live. Everything that managers do, or don't do, is a choice that can affect the course of the organization and the lives of their employees. Such ethics rest on universal values that cut across time, culture, politics, religion and ethnicity. With all that at stake, it's clear that the impact of ethics on decision-making carries deep rooted and heavy effects.

4. Cite a company which experienced legal or social conflicts because of its violation of ethics. You may check as example the problem of pre-need insurance companies in the Philippines.

A company has basically four (4) levels of organizational hierarchy and each level makes use of unique IT technology and software to address and/or support their works.

Answer then the following:

1. Question #1:Identify and describe information systems (IS) used in each level.
Answer:
Operational Level

from inventory control to paying suppliers, allocation of resources such as personnel, raw materials and time to optimize productivity.
Knowledge Level

mathematical processing of data.
Management Level

- decision support, budgeting, cost analysis and production
Strategic Level

forecasting, profit planning and manpower planning

Answer:

For the managers,IS is able to help them through:

For employees,IS is able to help them through::

1) Fast and convenient data processing

Answer:

Prudential Life Insurance Company

Benefits of IS:

1) Easy and faster data handling

2) Faster decision making because of time lines of information.

3) Easy data gathering for planning, monitoring and evaluation....

Lapses of IS:

1) The reliability of data entered, sometimes, because of human weaknesses, data entered and process were incorrect which resulted in incorrect information draws wrong conclusion.

2) Because Information System is man made, there are disadvantages which show up in the later part of the application which were not corrected earlier that resulted to improper data processing.

3) There is the possibility of unauthorized changes to the data files because of computer failures or human lapses.

Prelims Question 2

An organization may adopt a closed-system or open-system model. Answer the following:

1.Question #1: Discuss the pro's and con's of each model.
Answer: the pros is an open system is that the organization is able to get the feedback which may help them to adjust for the efficiency of their operation. Through an open system, they may also able to cater all the needs and meet the satisfaction of their costumers and know the market trends. But the cons for an open system is that competitors of the organization will able to get their data. Competitors may also know the organization's strategies and may imitate their technologies, tactics and etc.

2.Question #2: Cite a company that uses any of this model. Describe briefly how this chosen model affect the entire company.
Answer: Splash, Kraft and J&J company are companies where I work before. These 3 companies are using the open system. Open system affects the entire company through the information and feedback that they get from the environment through the written reports being passed to the higher management from the lower ones.through feedback, they are able to adjust their products to meet the needs of their consumers and this helps a lot to increase their profits and competitiveness of their company.

Question #3: Evaluate how an environment affects the organization and its management. Discuss the pro's and con's of not responding to the demands of the environment.
Answer: Environment is the outside force that has tremendous effect to the organization and management through, 1) In here, the organization and management move,so knowing your environment you will be able to assess your actions if it is effective or not. 2) The type of decisions to be implemented depends on the environment you are working. 3) Strategies on implementation is being affected by the environment. 4) The organizational style of leadership is depending on the demand o the times, 5) The ethics of the organization is depending on what environment you are working.
In conclusion, pros: environment has little bearing on the success of the organization, the future of the organization is dependent on its people and not on the environment he is working where as, on cons view point: environment though little might be, can spell out the results of past actions and predict future, hence the demands of the environment can never be set aside, little it maybe but might have some bigger effect on when ignored.

NOT RESPONDING ON THE DEMAND OF THE ENVIRONMENT....
Pros (-in favor of)
1) Success of the organization depends on the organizational efficiency and efficacy and not on the environment.
2)The future of the organization is depending on how its management directs the organization and on how its people is committed to the organization.
3)The answering to the demand of the environment doesn't guarantee success of the organization.

Cons (against to-)
1)Environment is serving as feedback instrument.
2)Environment as indicator of where is the organization presently working on, it shows the disadvantage and advantage of past actions.
3) Environment serves as a future teller...if what the organization is going through serves as a signs of
4) Environment is internal and external costumer of the organization: responding to its demand makes the organization flexible,well-rounded and updated on how to deal with the new issues and concerns which might affect on ability of the organization to move on to the higher level
5) In order to grow, the organization must meet the demand of the environment.

Prelim Question #1

1. Question #1 : how do you perceive information as a resource of a company?

Answer: Information is an asset of the company in the sense that,it has predictive value and feedback value. Predictive value is the information could be use as a guide in seeing the future of the company. while feedback value is that info could be use as an assessment instrument of the strength and weakness of previous decision made by the manager. In general, information is use for guidance in decision making.

2. Question #2 : cite a company, its nature. describe how the information from its environment improves its management and business as a whole.

Answer: SPLASH COMPANY, a big and well-knowned company that manufactures beauty products such as maxi peel, skinwhite, biolink and etc. gathers some information about the wants and comments of the costumers and their competitors activity (such as sampling, tie-ups and other promotional activities) through the written reports that is being passed to them by their push girls(sales ladies). This information gathered is used by the management for decission making. through this, they were able to vye with the activities of their competitors and this helps the business survive in the stiff competition in the industry.
